National Ambient Air Quality Conditions in October 2024
In October, the average PM2.5 concentration in 339 cities at prefecture level and above nationwide was 28.5 micrograms per cubic meter, up 2.9% year-on-year; the average PM10 concentration was 48 micrograms per cubic meter, down 5.9% year-on-year; the average O3 concentration was 124 micrograms per cubic meter, flat year-on-year; the average SO2 concentration was 8 micrograms per cubic meter, down 11.1% year-on-year; the average NO2 concentration was 22 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 12.0%; the average concentration of CO was 0.8 mg/m3, flat year-on-year.
In October, the average proportion of good air quality days in 339 cities at prefecture level and above nationwide was 92.3%, down 1.1 percentage points year-on-year; the average proportion of days with heavy and above pollution was 0.3%, up 0.1 percentage points year-on-year; the average proportion of days exceeding the standard caused by dust and sandy weather was 0.6%, of which the proportion of days with heavy and above pollution was 0.05%.

List of Top 20 and Bottom 20 Cities in Air Quality Ranking of 168 Key Cities in October 2024
In October, among the 168 key cities, the top 20 cities with better air quality were Zhoushan, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Lhasa, Huangshan, Ya'an, Guiyang, Taizhou, Kunming, Nantong, Lishui, Huizhou, Wenzhou, Xuancheng, Shenzhen, Ziyang, Suining, Haikou, Mianyang, and Jiaxing in that order.
The last 20 cities with worse air quality were, in order, Xinxiang, Xuchang, Luohe, Pingdingshan, Anyang, Luoyang, Shijiazhuang, Hebi, Zhengzhou, Handan, Jiaozuo, Kaifeng, Xingtai, Dezhou, Baoding, Puyang, Cangzhou, Jincheng, Hengshui and Xianyang.
In October, among the 168 key cities, the top 20 cities with lower PM2.5 concentrations were, in order, Lhasa, Zhoushan, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Huangshan, Taizhou, Ningbo, Nantong, Wenzhou, Kunming, Guiyang, Lishui, Shenzhen, Jiaxing, Urumqi, Haikou, Huizhou, Ya'an, Shanghai and Dongguan City.
The last 20 cities with higher PM2.5 concentrations are, in order, Xuchang, Luohe, Xinxiang, Anyang, Luoyang, Handan, Puyang, Shijiazhuang, Hebi, Xingtai, Baoding, Pingdingshan, Shangqiu, Jiaozuo, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Cangzhou, Zhoukou, Hengshui and Zhumadian.
