National Ambient Air Quality Condition in March 2024 and January-March 2024
In March, the average concentration of PM2.5 in 339 prefectural-level and above cities nationwide was 34 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%; the average concentration of PM10 was 62 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 11.4%; the average concentration of O3 was 122 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 6.9%; the average concentration of SO2 was 8 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1%; the average NO2 concentration was 23 micrograms per cubic meter, down 11.5% year-on-year; and the average concentration of CO was 0.9 milligrams per cubic meter, flat year-on-year.
In March, the average proportion of good air quality days in 339 cities at prefecture level and above nationwide was 90.4%, up 7.2 percentage points year-on-year; the average proportion of heavily polluted days and above was 1.0%, down 1.6 percentage points year-on-year; and the average proportion of exceeding the standard days caused by sand and dust weather was 5.7%.
From January to March, the average concentration of PM2.5 in 339 prefectural-level and above cities nationwide was 43 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 6.5%; the average concentration of PM10 was 67 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 11.8%; the average concentration of O3 was 111 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9%; the average concentration of SO2 was 9 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 10.0%; and the average concentration of NO2 was 1.0%. down 10.0%; average concentration of NO2 was 25 micrograms per cubic meter, down 7.4% year-on-year; and average concentration of CO was 1.2 milligrams per cubic meter, flat year-on-year.
From January to March, the average proportion of good air quality days in 339 prefectural-level and above cities nationwide was 83.6%, up 3.5 percentage points year-on-year; the average proportion of heavily polluted days and above was 2.4%, down 0.9 percentage points year-on-year; and the average proportion of exceeding the standard days caused by sand and dust weather was 3.6%.
